Google could be sued & relaunched website… again
Another busy weekend is fast approaching us here at Skyline Marketing. We have had another positive week working with some new clients and also some new potential leads for our SEO packages contacting the office too, so the office is buzzing!
Google seems to have had a busy week refreshing its website yet again, however appears to be ending on a sour note after a US Court has opened the door to them being sued for “scooping” data from open wi-fi sources when it was creating data for its ever more controversial “Street View” offering.
A San Francisco judge has ruled that it was unlawful for Google, the Search Engine Giant to take this data and it had violated wire-tapping laws. Google had argued that “anyone” could have also picked up this data as the networks were open to everyone to tap the information. Google has also stopped its Street View cars from picking up any data from Wi-fi networks since the problem was initially bought to light.
Google has also relaunched its Worldwide websites changing the colour scheme, moving the destination URL to come directly under the title links, and seems to have made the whole experience a lot more “basic” in our opinion. Google AdWord listings also look more prominent at the top with a darker box around the top pay-per-click adverts. However, if it was not for the box, you would not know these were pay-per-click as the “Ads” tag at the top right of the box appears to be moved well out of the way of the listings – a clever ploy just to increase AdWord revenue I think, given that only 35% of users will click a pay-per-click advert.
It is certainly never dull in the house of Google… Whether you are battling the world of SEO and Internet Marketing or just enjoying the Wimbledon finals, have a great weekend from everyone at Skyline Marketing!
SEO Companies
Good Evening from Skyline Marketing, the SEO Company in Exeter Devon.
This will only be a micro-blog as it’s Saturday night.
I really wish web site design company that claim to know about SEO would stop offering the service because they are really not very good at it. It is like buying a television from Sainsbury’s or Tesco – yes it is going to be cheaper but is it any good? Would anyone in the store know the difference between 1080i and 1080p ? Probably not. The same applies with SEO – do most website design companies know enough about SEO to be offering it as a service? I doubt it sadly. It is just a case of “keeping up with the Jones”… XYZ designs offer SEO so we’ve got to ! Well don’t, just stick to designing, please.
Thanks
Rob

SEO, Online Marketing and the new MacBook Pro
Good Afternoon from a Grey Devon,
As it Friday afternoon and I’m writing this blog on an old Dell laptop, credit to the dell it still works but I miss my MacBook Pro (it should be back with me tomorrow)
While we’re on the subject of MacBooks, the New MacBook Pro looks impressive, I’m loving the new Thunderbolt technology, it will connect the next generation of high-performance peripherals to the next generation of computers and is more than 12 times faster than FireWire 800 and up to 20 times faster than USB 2.0. Impressive. I can’t wait!
The Final word this week on SEO and Internet Marking,
“Having a great website and not marketing it, is like waving in the dark, you know you’re doing it but nobody else can see you”
Have a great weekend whatever you are doing, Good luck to Exeter City and the Chiefs.
